Homemaker Program

The Homemaker Program at the New Orleans Council on Aging provides light home maintenance services to eligible seniors, helping them remain safe, comfortable, and independent in their own homes. Designed for individuals 60 years of age or older, this program supports daily living by assisting with essential household tasks that may become difficult over time.

Services include housekeeping, laundry, and other routine chores that help maintain a clean and healthy living environment. These supports are critical to maintaining personal well-being, strengthening independence, and safeguarding the overall quality of life for older adults.

Once enrolled, participants typically remain in the program unless their need is temporary. Currently, more than 126 individuals benefit from these services, and for many, this assistance plays a vital role in preventing the need for nursing home placement or other long-term care options.
