Vivan Larche Perkins entered her eternal home on Monday, January 8, 2024, at the age of 96. Born on August 1, 1927, in New Orleans, LA. The daughter of the late Louis, Sr, and Adele Larche. She was the beloved wife of the late Smith Perkins for 58 years. She leaves to cherish her precious memories 4 children, Zelda McKendall, Glenda Jemison {Ronald), Hymes Perkins (Suzette), and Roslyn Duplessie, 8 grandchildren, Kimberly McKendall, Christopher McKendall, Michael McKendall, Ron Jemison Jr, SeanJemison, Hymes Perkins Jr, Corey Perkins, and Arriane Perkins, sister Phyllis Mercadel and brother Anthony Larche (Bobette), 25 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and godchildren. She is preceded in death by sisters Grace Andry and Marion Ancar and brothers Louis Larche Jr, and James Larche.
Vivan was an exemplary mother, baker, and professional seamstress. She honed her sewing skills at Cute-Togs as a quality inspector, Shram Bros and Haspel Bros sewing factories. Her love of sewing was exuded in her creations of Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls and designing of children and adult dresses and suits. In addition, Vivian’s famous Seven Up cakes and pralines were always the center of family holiday feasts.
Vivian was a faithful servant of her Catholic faith. She was an active member of St. Raymond and St. Leo The Great Catholic Church. She was a recipient of the Order of St. Louis IX medal due to her unwavering devotion to her Lord, Jesus Christ. She was also a member of KPCLA Court 78. Friends of the Family, also Priest and Parishioners of St. Raymond/St. Leo The Great Catholic Church are all invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at11:00am at St. Raymond/St. Leo The Great Catholic Church 2916 Paris Avenue New Orleans. Visitation begins at 10 AM. The celebrant is Father Sidney Speaks.
In lieu of flowers, the family of Vivan Larche Perkins asks that donations to the New Orleans Council on Aging be given in her memory.
